Western Maui Wildfires - How to Donate

It was just a year ago that we wandered the historic streets of Lahaina, enchanted by its heritage, landscapes, and warm-hearted residents. A serene blend of history, natural beauty, and the aloha spirit, Lahaina wasn't just another stop on our itinerary; it was a chapter of our story we cherished. The mesmerizing beauty of the Banyan tree, the melodies from Damien Awai, the inviting courtyards of the Pioneer Hotel, a celebratory dinner at the Old Lahaina Luau, and even our amusing escapades at VigilLatte - these memories are now tinged with a heaviness.

To hear of the devastating wildfires engulfing the region, taking away not just structures but stories, history, and even lives, has left us shattered. The vivid imagery of our time at Front Street, from the Baldwin House to the Court House stands in stark contrast to the smoky remnants we now see in news reports. Our hearts ache for a community that welcomed us with open arms, for the landmarks that stood as silent witnesses to countless tales, and for the 'ohana that have lost so much.

While words may never fully convey the depth of our emotions, we wish to express our profound sorrow and stand in solidarity with the people of Maui and Hawaii. It's not just about the bricks and beams; it's about lives, legacies, dreams, and the spirit of a place we fell deeply in love with.

In these trying times, we implore our community, our "wanderers", and everyone reading this to come forward and support the local residents and businesses of Maui. Tourism, while it paints a paradise picture, has its challenges for the native residents. Now, more than ever, they need our aloha spirit to help rebuild their paradise.

How to Donate:

We urge you to donate to this initiative by CNHA which aims to provide immediate relief to the affected. Every dollar you give will be matched up to $100,000, amplifying the support for families and businesses in Lahaina. These are not just funds; they are a manifestation of our unity, compassion, and the enduring spirit of aloha.

Let's rally around this cause, showing the people of Maui that they aren't alone in this. Let's help them rise from these ashes, and together, rebuild a stronger, even more resilient Lahaina.

With deepest sympathy and unwavering support,

Adrienne & Andru Valpy
